質問です。debtとsinの使い分けを教えてください。

Jesus said:"Forgive us our debts."
On another occasion,he said:"Forgive us our sins."
He said this because our sins are like debts.と本文はなっていて訳されたものはdebtsを負い目と訳しています。ただ辞書で調べても「借金」や「(宗教、道徳上の)罪」としか出ていません。これは意訳と捉えていいのでしょうか。
