たとえば、どこへ行ったの？を訳すなら、Where did you go? だと、もう帰ってきているニュアンスになります。どこ行ってたの？という感じです。それよりは、次に「聞こえますか？」と続くので「どこにいるの？」という意味で訳した方が自然でしょう。
日本語を直訳すると、意味がうまく伝わらないことがあります。英語を自然に使うためには、意訳する方がよいとおもいます。
パッと見で、硬い英語だなぁと思いました。
furtherでなくとも、how much longer... で自然に訳せると思いますが。自分なりにですが、もうすこし柔らかく訳してみました。意訳の箇所がありますが、翻訳なんてそんなものです。
