On July 7th, the tanabata is held in Japan.
Two stars, Altair and Vega, are believed to be meet across the Milky Way on this day.
We write down our wishes on strips of paper called "tanzaku", then hang them from bamboo trees.

The Star Festival originates from Chinese legend of the two bright stars, Altair and Vega.
七夕は輝く２つの星、アルタイルとベガにまつわる中国の伝説に由来しています。

Vega, a weaving girl, and Altair, a cowherd boy, loved each other.

He allowed them to meet once a year across the Milky Way only on the night of July 7th. 
天帝は１年に１度7月7日の夜だけ、２人が天の川を渡って会うことを許しました。

On that day, people decorate bamboo branches with paper strips and ornaments to celebrate their reunion. 
七夕の日は、短冊やお飾りでささの枝を飾って２人の再会を祝います。
